Sen. Jacobs endorses Dillon for governor

Term-limited state Sen. Gilda Jacobs, D-Huntington Woods, is endorsing state House Speaker Andy Dillon of Redford for the Democratic nomination for governor.

Dillon faces Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero in the Aug. 3 Democratic primary. Republican candidates seeking the nomination are Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard, Ann Arbor businessman Rick Snyder, U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox and state Sen. Tom George.

Jacobs, the first female floor leader in the history of the Michigan Legislature, is a pro-choice advocate and liberal leader in the Senate.

She was scheduled to announce her endorsement at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the Hall of Fame Room of the Michigan Women's Historical Center and Hall of Fame in Lansing.
