Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder says Detroit can't wait

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder's trip to Detroit Friday generated more fuss than it should have. But it did set clear the likely path for Detroit's future — appointment of an emergency manager to take over the struggling city's finances.

Snyder held a broadcast event to say he has made the determination that the state review team that concluded Detroit has a financial emergency was right. Next up is what Detroit will do about that official determination and who Snyder might appoint as a financial manager.
In the suburbs, Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson speculated on whether it's too late to save Detroit, the implications for the suburbs if the city descends to bankruptcy, and on how hard it may be to find an emergency manager for Detroit.
